Dolling & Heroines

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 15, 2009, 6:28 AM

Heroines Overview

With the odd exception, I tend to doll in terms of collections rather than individual dolls and my favourite subject is heroines.

The Heroines Collections each come in three waves:

  • The TA Wave: small full bodied dolls on *bunnystick's Tart Apple Base

  • The Yearbook Wave: Portraits done on Eden Enchanted’s (closed) exclusive Yearbook Base

  • The Action Heroine Wave: This wave will be the longest in the making because, unless somebody beats me too it, I’ll be making my own base set. Uh oh.

Game Gals Collection

This collection is already well underway. It was started back in 2007 and was resurrected early November 2009. The dolls have had a bit of a makeover – they originally had pixel shaded clothes and tool shaded hair whereas they now have pixel shaded hair and a Lara Croft and Sniper Wolf have had completely new cuts.

There are two categories within this collection: Games I’ve Played and Games I Want to Playobviously games from the latter category may find themselves moving into the former at some point in the future.

Animated Heroines

Categories (2D animation only):

  • Disney Princesses - I haven’t decided for certain yet but this category will probably start at Eilonwy (The Black Cauldron) since ‘heroine’ is not a word I would use to describe any of the Princesses that came before her

  • Disney Heroines

  • Don Bluth Heroines

  • Other Cartoon Heroines

  • Anime Heroines

  • 80s Cartoons

  • 90s Cartoons

  • 00s Cartoons

Women of Genre

Rather than separate Collections for Horror, Sci Fi/SF etc I’m putting them all together. So much is cross genre anyway it’s hard to put a character into just the one.

Graphic Art Gals

Comics, comic books and graphic novels. Nuff said.

The Girl In Question

I guess I’m what you’d call a lost soul. Once upon a time, my dream was to work in film. I wanted to be an editor and/or production designer but above all, I wanted to write. But after a Foundation Degree in Film & TV Production which in hindsight I should never have done and four years of ignored job applications, the only thing I have to show for my efforts is Depression and acute Social Anxiety. And crucially, I no longer have any love for that industry and writing in particular.

Right now I’m in search of a new dream. Suggestions on a postcard please. Palaeontology has always appealed to me...

I currently reside in an aesthetically pleasing black hole in the Northwest of England, called Barnoldswick, or Barlick for short. I accidentally moved here with my mum in 2005 and have been trying to escape ever since. Nothing, not even light can escape a black hole.

Writing

Although my desire to write creatively has long since died, I still refer to myself as a writer on social sites because I keep a blog and “writer” sounds more professional than “blogger”. I blog so that I don’t stop writing all together.
